1.  Place Atractylodes and magnolia buds (wrapped in cheesecloth) into a pot. Add sufficient cold water (2-3 cm above herbs) and soak for 30-40 minutes.

2.  Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce to low heat for slow decoction. After 10-15 minutes of low-heat decoction, uncover the pot and add Acorus tatarinowii rhizome. Continue simmering for 5-10 minutes. Turn off the heat and strain out the first decoction.

3. Return all herbal residue (including the magnolia flower pouch) to the pot. Add warm water (slightly less than the first batch). Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat. Simmer for 15-20 minutes and strain out the second decoction.

4. Combine both decoctions, stir thoroughly, and consume warm in 2-3 divided doses.
